8U COACH PITCH SOFTBALL (Ages 7-8)

• 1 player per position; C, P, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, LC, RC, RF
• Positions must be rotated among all players evenly. All players must rotate and play both the infield and outfield.
• Pitcher position should wear heart guard and have at least 1 foot inside the circle until the ball has been pitched.
• All "outfield position" players must be at the grass or at a minimum of one foot in the grass at the start of the pitch.
• A player will receive seven pitches or three strikes. There will be called strikes for each swing.   A foul ball on them seventh pitch does not count as a pitch. There should be no tee used at this level, no exceptions. If the ball is not put into play, the batter is considered out.
• Full swings only, no bunting.
• No stealing bases.
• A player cannot leadoff and must maintain one foot on the bag until the batter swings and or makes contact.
• No base advancement on an overthrow to first base or third base. The play will stop when an infield player has control of the ball. If the runner is not past the half-way line, they must go back to the previous base.
• Runner may continue to advance through the bases if the ball is hit beyond the infield baselines until an infield player gains control of the ball within the baselines for Infield Control.
• Max 6 Innings
• Coach or Assistant coach must keep score.
• 3 outs or 5 run mercy, whichever is first, and then the other team is up to bat.
• 11” size softballs are to be used.
• Every defensive player must wear a face mask at all times.
• Helmets are required for batters, base runners, and batters on deck.
